Church Governance

How is BBC Governed?

BBC Is An Elder-Led, Deacon Served, Congregationally-Ruled, Autonomous Body. What does that mean? It means that the decision making of the church is contained within the local church and determined by member’s meetings where each member has an equal responsibility to participate in the process. While BBC does partner with the local association, the state convention and the national convention, none of these hold any authority over the decisions made at the local church level. The church votes to approve the staff, the budget, the officers and teachers and those that serve in ministry roles.

How should a Christian church be structured? The purpose of this material is not to expound upon all the various models of church polity within the Christian church in general. However, differing forms of church governments should not exclude fellowship and care between congregations. We must be careful not to interpret Scripture based purely upon our own traditions, whether Baptist or not.

We have quarterly business meetings on the first Wednesday night of the new quarter.  If you are a member of this church, you have as much right as anyone else, to be involved in these meetings.

Does BBC Require Background Checks?

Our hired ministry team and volunteers in our preschool, children, and student ministry areas are required to have background checks and go through Child Protection Training. All those on our safety team are required to have a background check as well.
