This morning, may we read and think about Psalms 66 through the lens of the gospel. It is my prayer that it will prepare our hearts and minds to approach the Lord’s Table in humility, joy, and worship.

Call to Worship vs.1–4

Shout for joy to the LORD (1) All the earth is called to worship God with a shout of adoration! Our great God is worthy to be worshipped and adored!

Sing loudly of the greatness of the LORD (2) This is what it means to sing the glory (how great God is) of His name. Recount His attributes and character that has been revealed in the Word!

Speak kindly to the LORD (3) May you see and say rejoicingly, great are you oh Lord and greatly to be praised!  Psalms 145:3

Submit thankfully to the LORD (4) The call is to join in the worship of the LORD and the praise of His name. What is required to worship Him? Submission to Him. Have you submitted to the Lordship of Christ? Call on Jesus in repentance and faith!

Come and See vs. 5–7

The invitation is given for all the people to behold the powerful acts of God!

Rehearse what God has done (5)

– God demonstrated His power in the deliverance of His people Israel by parting the

Red Sea and bringing His people through it on dry ground!

-We too are to rehearse what God the Father has done through the gospel of His Son

–Remember God’s deliverance (6) and Recognize God’s dominion, He is ruling (7)

-We are to rejoice just as the people of Israel did when they were delivered out of the

hands of the Egyptians and were led safely through that dry seabed by Moses!

Remember that Jesus Christ has come and rescued us from our sin and Satan’s evil

dominion. May we worship God today in our hearts, minds, and through our lips as we sing together His praises.

Holy Communion: There is no better way to rehearse what God has powerfully done in history through Jesus Christ than to celebrate at the Lord’s table which He instituted. Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-23

“The point of the Lord’s Supper is the gospel. The gospel frees us from sin. The gospel reconciles us to God. The gospel gives us God for our Father, Jesus for our elder brother, and all the saints as brothers and sisters. The gospel unites us to Christ and to each other.” Bobby Jamieson
